Orthomorpha coarctata is a widespread species of flat-backed millipede in the family Paradoxosomatidae, originally native to Southeast Asia but now introduced to many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. It has a long, slender, dark brown to black body with around 40–50 body segments, each bearing two pairs of legs, giving it a characteristic flattened appearance. Often found in leaf litter, soil, and decaying wood, it feeds on decomposing plant matter, playing an important role in nutrient recycling and soil health. Harmless to humans, it is a common detritivore in both natural and urban environments.
