Orthetrum testaceum (orange skimmer) is a medium-sized dragonfly in the family Libellulidae, widely found across South and Southeast Asia. Adult males are easily recognized by their bright orange to reddish bodies and amber-tinted wings, while females are more yellowish-brown. They inhabit ponds, lakes, rice fields, and slow-moving streams, often perching on exposed twigs, reeds, or rocks near water. Agile hunters, they feed on mosquitoes and other small flying insects, contributing to natural pest control and maintaining the balance of freshwater ecosystems.
