Physomerus grossipes (melon bug) is a species of leaf-footed bug in the family Coreidae, found in tropical Asia. It is recognized by its elongated body, brownish coloration, and characteristic swollen hind femora. This species commonly feeds on cucurbits such as melons, gourds, and pumpkins, piercing fruits and stems with its proboscis to suck plant sap. Heavy infestations can cause significant crop damage, making it an agricultural pest in some regions. Despite this, it plays a role in the ecosystem as part of the food web, serving as prey for birds, reptiles, and predatory insects.
