Neurothemis fluctuans (red grasshawk or common parasol) is a medium-sized dragonfly in the family Libellulidae, widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia. Males are strikingly marked with deep red bodies and broad crimson patches on their wings, while females are usually yellowish-brown with patterned wings. They are commonly found near ponds, marshes, rice fields, and slow-moving waters, where they perch conspicuously on grass stems and twigs. Active aerial hunters, they feed on small flying insects such as mosquitoes, playing an important role in natural pest control and freshwater ecosystem balance.
