Erionota thrax (banana skipper or banana leaf roller) is a butterfly in the family Hesperiidae, native to South and Southeast Asia and now present in some Pacific islands. It is named for its larvae, which roll and fasten banana leaves with silk to create protective shelters while feeding. Adults are medium-sized, dark brown with lighter markings, and are active fliers often seen visiting flowers. While the species plays a role in pollination, its caterpillars are considered significant agricultural pests of banana and related plants, sometimes causing serious crop damage.
