Ricanula stigmatica is a striking planthopper species (family Ricaniidae) found in parts of South and Southeast Asia. It is easily recognized by its dark wings marked with distinct pale or white spots, giving it a “stained” or “spotted” appearance. Like other planthoppers, it feeds on plant sap using piercing mouthparts and may sometimes appear in numbers on host plants. Its unusual wing patterns make it one of the more eye-catching members of the Ricaniidae family.
