Henosepilachna septima (pumpkin beetle or epilachna beetle) is a phytophagous ladybird beetle found in South and Southeast Asia. Unlike most ladybird beetles that are beneficial predators, this species is herbivorous, feeding on the leaves of cucurbits such as pumpkin, cucumber, and melon. Adults are orange to reddish with several black spots on their elytra, while larvae are spiny and yellowish. Both life stages can cause significant damage to crops by skeletonizing leaves, making it an important agricultural pest. Despite this, it remains an integral part of the ecosystem as prey for natural predators.
