Calotes versicolor (oriental garden lizard or changeable lizard) is a common agamid lizard native to South and Southeast Asia. It is well known for its ability to change color, especially in males during the breeding season, when they may display bright red or orange on the head and throat. This species grows up to about 35–40 cm in length, with a slender body, long tail, and spiny crest along the back and neck. Often found in gardens, forests, and urban areas, it feeds mainly on insects and small invertebrates. Despite its fierce appearance, it is harmless to humans and plays a beneficial role in natural pest control.
