Agriocnemis pygmaea (pygmy damselfly) is one of the smallest damselflies in the world, widely distributed across Asia and parts of Australia. Adults typically measure only 15–19 mm in length, with slender bodies and delicate, transparent wings. Males are often marked with striking red or orange coloration near the abdomen tip, while females show more muted tones. They inhabit ponds, marshes, and slow-moving waters, where they perch low among grasses. Despite their tiny size, they are agile hunters of small insects and serve as important indicators of healthy freshwater ecosystems.
