The house cricket (Acheta domesticus) is a small insect in the Gryllidae family, widely distributed and commonly found in warm environments. Native to southwestern Asia, it has spread worldwide and is now often kept as feed for reptiles, amphibians, birds, and fish. Adults are usually light brown with long antennae and wings, reaching about 16–21 mm in length. Known for their distinctive chirping produced by males to attract mates, they are also valued as a sustainable protein source for humans in some cultures.
